      <image:title>About - About.</image:title>
<image:caption>I grew up in Central Oregon with horses as a way of life. During my teenage years, I was Lead Wrangler for the local stables in Sunriver, OR. I taught riding skills, guided pack trips, trained horses, worked with the local farrier and was hired by ranches as a working cowboy. After high school, I enlisted in the US Navy and entered the US Navy SEAL program. I graduated with top honors and was Honorman of BUD’S Class 186. I served my country for eight years as a member of the US Navy SEAL Teams. After the military, I moved my family to the Pacific Northwest, where I grew up. I attended and graduated from Mission Farrier School with a world-class education in hoof science and Natural Balance principles. I have also had the great opportunity to be a US Forest Service packer for the Rocky Mountain Specialty Pack String, based out of Shawnee, CO. Using nine mules, we packed in over 600 loads of supplies and equipment throughout Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Nebraska. I started Eric Neilsen Equine Services over 12 years ago due to my love and passion for working with horses. I provide professional farrier services and full-care retirement boarding. As a Professional Farrier, I don’t believe I can ever stop learning how to care for the horse’s foot. This includes dietary needs as nutrition can greatly affect a horses’ feet. There are always new discoveries in science when it comes to the equine foot! I strive to stay up to date and consistently work to improve my knowledge in everything I do. I am also committed to providing excellent care and comfort for the horses entrusted to my care! Eric Neilsen Owner/Manager</image:caption>

The heel buttresses are back towards the rear of the frog. The hoof ratio is 65:35 (from the rear of the hoof to the widest point; and from the widest point to the break over)</image:caption>
